HIST1302 PART 5: Online Self-Study Section
Covering Events from 1981 through 2009

Banner highlighting events of 1981-2009

Due to the fact that the number of in-class hours (3 per week) provided to teach HIST1302 have not increased since the early 1970s and due also to the fact that several decades of "new" history have been made since that time, I have found it necessary to introduce a self-taught section in order to cover the entire time period this course requires (from 1865 to the present-day).

IMPORTANT!!!

This section entails a fair amount of outside class study time. Do not make the mistake of leaving it until the last moment to complete! Students should start working on this during the first month of the semester in order to complete it by the end of the semester!

Although all assignments as well as the exam associated with this section may be completed at any time during the semester, all requirements (see items 3, 6, and 10 below) MUST be completed by the deadline date given in the course syllabus/calendar.

Here is a step-by-step procedure for completing this section of the course: (NOTE: There are 10 steps; be sure to scroll all the way down to see all ten.)

  1. Download/print ARE5 Questions. NECESSARY

History and Geography go hand in hand. Below are links to maps that help illustrate the history of the United States during and following the end of the Cold War.
